IFUMB Madras Chapter thanks IFUMB for having provided the opportunity to organize USCON XXII the year 2013.
The Twenty-Second National Conference of the Indian Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology ‘USCON’ was held successfully from October 25th to 27th 2013 at Puducherry, the neighbouring state of Tamil Nadu and a renowned holiday destination.
This Conference comprised of forty-six National and two International faculty, namely Prof. Thomas Charles Winter III from United States and Dr. T.P. Baskaran from Kualalumpur, Malaysia. In addition to these the meeting had around 450 delegates. The participants of this conference were from all over India like Gujarat, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and even from Lucknow etc which showed the reach, importance and vitality of this subject i.e. the Ultrasonography. Everyone in the Medical front played a crucial role in bringing their best with respect to innovations using Ultrasound techniques.
Dr. Murugesan, Director of the East Coast Hospital, Puducherry has extended his support towards facilitating the venue, obtaining the PNDT permission for conducting this conference. He has also helped us in arranging the chief guest for the inaugural function and providing patients for the workshops. Dr.Ravi Kumar, Director-Jipmer also assisted us in many ways to conduct this conference at Puducherry.
Dr. K.V. Raman, Director of Medical and Rural Health Services, Puducherry was the Chief Guest and Dr.D. Gurumurthy, Director, National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) Puducherry was the Guest of Honour at the inaugural function.
The State Health Society, NRHM, Tamil Nadu has sponsored 100 delegates for this Conference. Their kind gesture in this regard is most appreciated and it is one more feather in our cap!
The supporting team of this conference too did a meticulous job which we would say a backbone to this glorious event. We acknowledge the services of our Event Manager, M/s Maruntheeswara Enterprises, Chennai who have been associated with us right from the initial stage till the finalization of this meeting.
The sponsors for this meeting are Wipro GE, Philips, Sonoscape, Samsung, Trivitron and Siemens as well. Without the support of these companies, this conference would not have been a reality. We whole-heartedly appreciate their patronage which has definitely had a mutual benefit.
The Kit bags which were distributed among the participants were noteworthy. Its quality and user-friendliness were well applauded by its recipients.
This Conference was put up at Hotel Anandha Inn, one of the finest hotels in Puducherry. We had an exhilarating experience with their hospitality, kindness and helpful attitude during our stay. Their pleasant demeanour has left everyone with a ‘Food For Thought’. We really appreciate this sublime way of handling guests. The refreshments served by them were so delicious, healthy and it relished our taste buds too.
To sum up, we would say it is the team work which has contributed for the grand success of this Conference which stands ultimately for the benefit of the patients.
